Stainless Steel Sink Surface Treatment Process

Brushing Process

Principle: The brushing process uses brushing equipment to repeatedly pull the stainless steel sink surface in one or more directions using different abrasive materials (such as sandpaper, wire brushes, etc.). During this process, the abrasive material rubs against the stainless steel surface, removing tiny protrusions and creating fine, uniform brush marks. This process is similar to grinding in machining, except that grinding is more used for dimensional accuracy and surface finish of metal parts, while brushing focuses on creating unique surface textures. Depending on the direction and method of brushing, common types include straight brush marks (long brush marks) and short brush marks (snowflake patterns). Straight brush marks are generally created by continuous abrasive belts rubbing in one direction, forming parallel and relatively long brush-like textures; short brush marks are created by using special processing equipment to make the abrasive material rub against the sink surface along a shorter path and at a higher frequency, resulting in dense, short brush-like textures.

Frosting Process

Principle: The frosting process utilizes fine sand particles, propelled by a high-speed airflow or water flow, to evenly impact the surface of a stainless steel sink. These sand particles act like tiny "cutting tools," impacting and rubbing the sink surface, creating microscopic grooves invisible to the naked eye. This principle is similar to shot peening in machining, except that shot peening typically uses hard particles like steel shot to improve the surface strength and fatigue life of metal parts, while frosting uses even finer sand particles, primarily to alter surface roughness and texture. In practice, specialized sandblasting equipment is usually used, and different degrees of frosting effects are achieved by controlling parameters such as sand particle size, blasting speed, and angle.
